History of the JTL

In 1982, whereas Télé Luxembourg becomes RTL Television, Jacques Navadic, director of information, decides to rename the Journal of TV-Luxembourg of a shorter, more dynamic name and nearer in consonance to RTL: JTL .

At the time of the Lorraine scission of the channels Luxembourg/and Belgium of RTL Television in 1983, a Belgian version of JTL is put at the antenna on the Belgian channel UHF 27 of the transmitting Dudelange. This new edition, presented each evening to 19:00 in alternation by Jean-Charles De Keyser, Bibiane Godfroid and Eddy De Wilde, is carried out since the studios of the Roosevelt avenue to Brussels. Philippe Goffin presented the weather.

On the Luxembourg channel/Lorraine (channel 21), the presentation of JTL is initially always ensured by Robert Diligent, then they are Patrick Charles and Marian Lacombe which officiates in alternation for the presentation of RTL News (new name of the French newspaper). Until 1986, the newspaper was presented since the center news Villa Louvigny to Luxembourg, then a studio was arranged with the seat of the radio RTL, 22 rue Bayard with Paris, where the two journalists presented the daily edition. Technical diffusion being ensured towards Luxembourg thanks to an existing connection by cable since years, between the studios of Paris and those of Luxembourg.

In September 1987, the resources of the drafting of RTL Television are largely put at contribution to form the draftings of the two chains lately created, RTL-TVI in Belgium where JTL becomes the Tv news of RTL-TVI presented by Bibiane Godfroid, and M6 in France whose Marian Lacombe & Patrick Charles presents the newspaper every evening to 19:30 from March in September 1987.

Bernard Weill and Luc Evrard again ensure the changing for the presentation of the edition of RTL News since the News Center of RTL in Luxembourg, the studio of RTL street being useful Bayard dorénavent for the Newspaper of M6.

Emptied its resources, JTL Luxembourg is replaced by RTL Information in 1987 then, Genevieve Guicheney takes again in hand the drafting and launches the RTL-SOIR in 1988 which the 40 minutes of Marylène Bergmann of February 1989 succeeds January 1996.
