JR Is

, or East Japan Railway Company in English, is the largest company of railroad transporting of the passengers in the world. JR Est is one of the eight companies of JR.

History

The company JR East was creates on April 1st 1987, during the dismantling and of the partial privatization of Japanese National Railway , and was entirely privatisée in 2002. JR Est exploits railway lines in the area of Tōkyō, its suburbs, the area of Tohoku and its accesses, is all the north-eastern half of the island of Honshū.

Lines

Its railway lines serve as the areas of Kanto and Tohoku mainly, with the adjacent parts of the prefectures of Niigata, of Nagano, Yamanashi and Shizuoka.

Shinkansen

JR Est exploits all Shinkansen (railway lines at high speed) in the north of Tōkyō.

JR Central exploits the Tokaido Shinkansen of Tōkyō to Osaka although this line makes several stops in the area of Tōkyō.
