JOnAS

Presentation

JOnAS is a Serveur of application Open-source (license LGPL) multi- Operating systems, and multi Databases, making it possible to build services applicatifs trade easily. It is adapted to the critical applications. It is exploited in very large organizations (Banque S, Ministère S, defense, Industrie,…) in infrastructures J2EE of great scale.

It is developed within the consortium OW2, consortium whose founding members are the INRIA, France Telecom and Bull. OW2 is the first world consortium dedicated to the middlewares Open Source

History

The project started in 1998.

Since February 2005 (version 4.3.4), JOnAS is a waiter of application certified J2EE 1.4 by Sun Microsystems.

JOnAS was the waiter of application of RedHat (before the repurchase of JBoss). It is placed in second position on the market of the waiters of open-source application, behind JBoss. It profits from an excellent technical image and some very great deployments in the world.

New architecture JOnAS 5 is based on a model of components OSGi.

Applications: Services Web

JOnAS resolutely lies within the scope of the strategy of the directed applications services (SOA), which will be " the Cornerstone of the Information systems opened and flexible devices of demain" , according to François Exertier, Manager R & D at Bull and chief of the JOnAS project to ObjectWebv2.

Thus, the project allows the development of the E-business, while resting on the Registre ebXML, to supplement with the Registre of directories of services Web UDDI.

The Architecture of base UDDI offers indeed, for the implementation of the Processus of businesses, of the possibilities of access to various types of Entités trade, of Services applicatifs trade, Technical informations on the services Web as well as referencing with the Modèles techniques necessary to the deployment.
