Jörg Woithe

Jörg Woithe (° Berlin, the April 11th 1963) is a German swimmer, specialist in the 50,100 and 200 m freestyle, representing GDR.

Biography

Jörg Woithe is Olympic champion of the 100 m freestyle in 1980 and the 1st European to swim this distance under the 50 second old bar, by carrying out 49" 81 in 1982 with Erfurt.

Always in this discipline, he is world champion in 1982 then vice-champion of Europe at the time of three consecutive championships (1981, 1983 and 1985).

He is the 1st champion of Europe of the 50 m freestyle in 1987.
