Järvenpää

Järvenpää (the head of the lake ) is a city of the south of the Finland in the area of Uusimaa and the province of southernmost Finland. It belongs to the northern suburbs of Helsinki, being sometimes attached to the Région of Helsinki. It is located at 37 km of the center of the capital, connected in less than 30 minutes to the center town via the highway of Lahti (national 4, E75), like by the train. Kerava is to 11 km with the south and Hyvinkää to 25 km in the North-West.

The city is located á the northern end of the lake Tuusulanjärvi. It is there that Jean Sibelius resided, in its house of Ainola built in 1904 by Lars Sonck, and this until its death in 1957. The house is today the principal tourist center of the commune. At the beginning of the 20th century, many other artists settled at the edge of the lake to flee temptations of Helsinki.

The city is resulting from a scission of Tuusula in 1951. It largely industrial and densément is densément populated. One finds there nevertheless several parks and two protected areas.

Järvenpää is bordered by the following municipalities: Mäntsälä in north, Tuusula in the west and the south, and Sipoo in the east (Uusimaa of the East).
