---- Járnsaxa (“that which has an iron sword”) is a giant name of E in the Scandinavian Mythologie.

In the Hyndluljód (37) , Járnsaxa is one of the nine mothers of Heimdall.

In addition, in the Skáldskaparmál (17) , Járnsaxa is presented like the mother of Magni, wire of Thor. Consequently, a Kenning described Sif, wife of Thor, like the “rival of Járnsaxa” (“ elja Járnsǫxu ”) ( Skáldskaparmál , 21).

The name Járnsaxa appears in also the Thula of the giants ( Skáldskaparmál , 75) and in two kenningar , where it is also employed like name of giantess (in the Haraldsdrápa runhenda of Thjódólf Arnórsson and in a fragment of poem of Einar Skúlason).
