Jáchym Topol

Jáchym Topol (born the August 4th 1962 with Prague) is a écrvain Czech contemporary, pertaining to the literature Czech underground , and founder of the literary periodical Re-examined Revolver .

Biography

Jáchym Topol is resulting from a well-known literary family. His/her father, Josef Topol, is playwright, poet and translator of Shakespeare. The literary beginnings of Jáchym are songs for the rock group Psí vojáci (the soldiers dogs), carried out by his/her young brother, Filip, at the end of the Seventies and with beginning of the year 80. He also writes for the group Národní třída.

In 1982, it Co-founds the review Samizdat Violit , and in 1985 the Revue Revolver which is spécailisée in the modern Czech literature. Because of the activities of dissident of its father, Jáchym cannot enter to the university. After its baccalaureat, it made several small trades. He is imprisoned several times for short periods. He is also one of the signatories of the Charte 77.

Jáchym takes part in the Révolution of velvet in 1989, by publishing an independent sheet, ( Informační been useful ), which will become later the weekly magazine Respekt . He is the editor association of Re-examined Revolver until in 1993. He always forms part of the drafting of Respekt.

He also wrote the words of three albums of the singer Monika Naceva: Moznosti you penny ( a chance , 1994 ago), Nebe I rudý ( the sky is red , 1996), and Mimoid (1998).
Now, Jáchym Topol lives with Prague with his wife and her two daughters.

Work

Jáchym Topol written in a familiar style, near to the street. During first half of the Years 1990, it gives up poetry to be devoted to prose and the novel.

Poems

Miluji tě K zbláznění (I love you with the madness, 1988) - first collection of poems published in samizdat) It receives the Prix Tom Stoppard for the nonofficial literature (founded in 1983 by Tom Stoppard, a birtannic playwright of Czech origin. It is published in 1990 by the publisher Atlantis .
V úterý bude válka (Tuesday it will be the war, 1993) - translated into Chinese, English, French, German, Hebrew, Lithuanian, Polish and Vietnamese. In October 1994, Allen Ginsberg read some poems of this book in the translation of Alex Zucker to the festival of FringeNYC.

Výlet K nádražní hauls (1994)
Sestra (1994). This novel gained won the Prix Egon Hostovský as a Czech book of the year (the price was founded in 1973 by Regina Hostovská, widow of the Czech novelist Egon Hostovský, which had flees in exile with the the United States. This novel, at the same time received by the Czech readers and the critic, was translated into several languages.
