Ixeure

The Ixeure is a French Rivière which runs in the department of the Nievre (58). It is a direct affluent of the the Loire out of Right Bank.

Geography

Ixeure is born on the territory from the commune of Bona. The first part of its course proceeds in direction of the south. Then it is directed gradually towards south-west and ends up being thrown in the Loire on the level of Imphy. Its water fills the ditches of the castle of Prye with Firmness. Its small catchment area, of more or less 125 km ², is placed between that of the Nievre in the North-West and the Aron in the east.

Following the example Nievre its neighbor, her water, analyzed at the station of Firmness are regarded as good quality with very good, according to the years. Two problems however: the nitrate excess per moment (at the time of strong rains, scrubbing of the grounds fattened with nitrates), and the index IBD (Biological Index Diatoms) which indicates a tendency to eutrophication and a medium charged out of organic matter.

Common crossings

  • Ixeure bathes the communes of Bona, Saint-Firmin, Saint-Benign-with Azy, Saint-Jean-with-Amognes the, Firmness and Imphy.

Hydrology

Ixeure is a rather abundant river, like the majority of the rivers of the southern half of Nievre, as of the east of this department. Its flow was observed during one 40 years period (1968-2007), with Firmness, locality of the department of the Nievre located at very little distance from its confluence with the the Loire. The catchment area of the river is there of 115 km ², that is to say it quasi totality of this last.

The interannual medium flow or module of the river with Firmness is of 1,26 m ³ a second.

Ixeure present of the seasonal fluctuations of flow marked enough, with high waters of winter-spring carrying the average monthly flow on a level located between 1,95 and 2,80 m ³ a second, from December to March included (with an in February maximum), and low waters of summer, July to September included, with a fall of the monthly medium flow up to 0,204 m ³ in August.

With the low water level, the VCN3 can fall until 0,018 m ³, in the event of dry quinquennial period, that is to say 18 liters a second, which can be regarded as severe. The VCN3 is the past minimal quantity or minimal flow over three days consecutive.

As for the risings, they can be rather important, characteristic shared by the majority of the affluents of the Loire, but without common measurement with the risings of the affluents located in the Western part of the basin of the latter.

Thus the QIX 2 and QIX 5 or calculated flows of biennial and quinquennial rising are worth respectively 17 and 21 m ³ a second. The QIX 10 or calculated flow of decennial rising is of 23 m ³ a second, the QIX 20 of 25 m ³, and the QIX 50 of 28 m ³ a second (see note).

The maximum instantaneous flow recorded with Firmness during the period of observation, was of 25,4 m ³ a second on May 27th, 1977, while the value maximum day laborer was of 19,40 m ³ a second on February 20th, 1999. By comparing the first of these values on a QIX scale of the river, one notes that this rising was only of a vicennial nature, and thus intended to rather frequently reproduce.

Ixeure is a well provided and abundant river. The Lame of water past in its catchment area is of 347 millimetres annually, which is higher than the overall average of France all confused basins, and also to the average of the the Loire (244 millimetres). The specific Débit of the river (or Qsp) posts of this fact a rather robust figure: 10,9 liters a second and per square kilometer of basin.
