History

The name of common refers to a victory gained with the Bataille of Ivry by Henri IV in 1590. The common one belongs to the old Stronghold of the Famille of Ivry where is the Château of Ivry-the-Battles.

Personalities related to the commune

Jacques-Desired Laval settled in this city, with the agreement of the three doctors of the area and found the practice of the faith there. It spent one year there, of April 1834 in June 1835. Its residence was the old gendarmerie, not far from the bridge of the Eure. In the church, a splendid stained glass, gift of Mrs. Veuve Auguste Laval, born Julie Ledoux, the beautiful sister of Jacques-Desired, summarize all the life of the good father. In the center is represented there the Father Jacques-Desired Laval preaching with the blacks of the Mauritius and, on his bed of death, curing Caroline Prosper. On each side, in top of the stained glass, two images in the honor of patron saint of Auguste Laval and his Julie wife; low, of the landscapes of Mauritius, roads of Port-Louis, the Inch, of the fields of canes, the tomb of the apostle, the old the Grapefruit cathedral and church. It is in this same church that Doctor Laval gathered the faithful ones to celebrate the month of Mary in front of a statue of the Virgin who always exists. The tomb of Auguste Laval, born with Croth the August 23rd 1805 is in the cemetery of the village.
