Ivar Vidfamne

Ivar Vidfamne ( Gamle ) semi-legendary king of Sweden of 655 with 695 and, according to the Heimskringla, also king of Norway, Denmark, Saxony and part of the England.

Ivar Vidfamme started as king of Scanie and conquered Sweden by overcoming Ingjald IIIrada. It would have then conquered the whole of Scandinavia and part of England. Much Swede would have fled his kingdom because of the hardness of its reign and would have been established in the Värmland, under the reign of Olav Tratalja. He would have died in a battle in Russia, cut down by the god Odin itself.

Its fatherland was Scanie, but according to the Heimskringla and the Sögubrot, it had to flee Scanie when his/her uncle Gudröd killed his brother Halfdan the Soft. The Saga of Ynglingar, the Historia Norvegiæ, the Saga Hervarar and the Upplendinga Konungum say that Ivar conquered Sweden after the suicide of Ingjald and then turned over to conquer Denmark.

According to Hversu Noregr byggdist, he was the son of Halfdan the Child (source confirmed by the Heimskringla and the Saga Hervarar), wire of Harald the Old man, wire of Valdar, wire of Roar (Hroðgar) of the house of Skjöldung (Scylding). According to Hversu, the Lay of Hyndla and the Sögubrot, Ivar had a named girl Auðr Deep-Minded.

Sögubrot tells that when Ivar was the king of Sweden, it gave his/her sister Auðr Deep-Minded to king Rörek de Zealand, in spite of the fact that she wanted to marry the brother of Rörek, Helgi. Rörek and Aud had a son, Harald Ier Hildetand. Ivar ordered in Rörek to kill his/her Helgi brother, and, after that, attacked and killed Rörek. However, Auðr arrived at the head of the army of Zealand and pushed back his/her father in Sweden. The following year, Auðr went to Gardariki with his/her Harald son and much of powerful men and Maria king Radbart.

However, when learned Ivar that Auðr had married without its assent, it gathered an large army in Denmark and in Sweden and went in Gardariki. It was then very old. However, when they arrived at the border of the kingdom of Radbart, the Karelia (Karjálabotnar), it threw itself over edge. Harald turned over then in Scanie to reign there. In the Lay one of Hyndla, Ivar, Auðr, Rörek and Harald appear. Radbart also appears, without its relation with the others not being mentioned.
