Iván Pedroso
Iván Pedroso , born the December 17th 1972 with Havana, is a Athlète Cuba in, specialist in the Long jump.
In 1990, 17 years old, it crosses for the first time the barrier of the eight meters. The same year, it is classified 4th with the championships of the world junior, organized with Plovdiv (Bulgaria). In 1992, it finishes 4th Olympic Games of Barcelona, whereas Carl Lewis and Mike Powell dominates the discipline.
Its reign starts in 1995, when it is essential on the championships of the world of Gothenburg. It in the open air gains four consecutive world titles (1995, 1997, 1999, 2001), to which five championships of the world in room (1993, 1995,1997,1999,2001) are added. To the Olympic Games of Atlanta, wounded, he manages to be classified only 12th final. He obtains finally the dedication to the Olympic Games of Sydney, where he gains the gold medal.
This prize list misses only the world records. It could be however the case. With Sestrières, in 1995, Pedroso carry out a jump of 8,96 m, leaf of one centimetre the record of Mike Powell, established with Tokyo in 1991. The wind was measured to 1,2 m/s but the Italian federation called upon the presence of official in front of the anenometer having probably distorted measurement. The record was not approved by IAAF.
In 2007, after having taken one 4th place with the Pan-American Plays of Rio de Janeiro, it announces its sporting retirement.
