Iván Fischer is a Leader Hungarian, born the January 20th 1951 with Budapest

Biography

He studies the piano and the violin, then the violoncello. He studies the direction near Hans Swarowsky and becomes the assistant of Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Initially invited to direct London orchestras, it goes to the the United States in order to be devoted to a cycle Brahms with the Philharmonic orchestra of Los Angeles. In 1983, with Zoltán Kocsis, it founds the Orchestre of the Festival of Budapest which it always directs.

It directs, as an invited chief, the most prestigious international phalanges. It also directs operas and was appointed musical director of the national Opéra of Lyon between 2001 and 2003.

Three members of its family are also leaders: his/her father Sándor, his brother Adam and his cousin György.

Discography

Fischer is particularly famous for her recordings devoted to works of Béla Bartók, Zoltán Kodály and Antonín Dvořák, all carried out with the Orchestra of the Festival of Budapest. The recording of the marvellous Mandarin of Bartók received the Gramophone Award in 1998.
