Itchy and Scratchy
Itchy and Scratchy is an animated series televised fictitious diffused inside the true televised animated series Simpson . It depicts a mouse (Itchy) fighting eternally with a cat (Scratchy) and mutilating it with all kinds of weapons mortals.
Origin
The characters of Itchy and Scratchy are supposed to be created in 1928 by Roger Myers whose son, Roger Myers Jr, took again the torch of the studios. However, one learns, during season 7, that the character of Itchy was put in scene for the first time in 1919, that is to say nine years earlier, by Chester J. Lampwick, dispossessed of his creation and become tramp thereafter… Bart and Lampwick will fight to take advantage of the rights of this last. The royalties are allotted to Chester Lampwick thanks to a dated original illustration. They will be then repurchased by Roger Myers Jr who will continue to produce and diffuse the cartoon.Itchy and Scratchy are a television program in a television program (“Krusty the Clown”) in a television program (“Simpson”) which itself was born in a television program (The Tracey Ullman Show).
Production of the drawing animated account of many scenario writers (of which Bill Oakley and John Weinstein, true scenario writers of Simpson), sometimes completely with course of ideas; so that Bart and LISA wrote some of the episodes by borrowing the name of their grandfather Abraham Simpson, who does not like at all Itchy and Scratchy besides.
The team counts also draftsmen, including one some David Silverman which drew Poochie the dog.
In the duck unchained , one learns that the episodes are carried out in a factory of Korea by underpaid employees. Lastly, it is a woman, June Bellamy, which interprets - with the great surprise of Homer - the voices of Itchy and Scratchy. Homer doubles him to it voice of Poochie the dog, a character.
Concept
Itchy and Scratchy are a parody of the animated series Tom and Jerry (in particular of the episodes very violent ones made during the Second world war); it is also a satire on the violence televised in the intended programs with childhood. Bart and LISA find the series terribly funny, but at the time of an episode, their Maggie little sister imitated the characters of the cartoon and struck their Homer father the head. (Season 2 episode 9) In an episode, Bart LISA are found in one of the episodes of the series after Bart put uranium at the place of the piles of the remote control. Itchy and Scratchy will continue them until Homer makes leave his/her children as well as the two heroes drawings animated. Homer will put Itchy in a cage out of glass and the episode finishes when Scratchy falls in love with the cat from Simpsons and that Marge decides to do it chatrer. This fictitious series is supposed being the continuity of a production initiated much earlier at the time of the XXe century, initially for the cinema then for television. Old episodes of Itchy and Scratchy are sometimes arisen from the paperboards in order to show in a satirical way the aspect of the beginnings of animation. For example, a cartoon is diffused in an episode of Simpson resembling curiously Mickey Mouse in the cartoon Steamboat Willie
A film will be drawn from the cartoon, The Itchy and Scratchy movie, and an amusement park (Itchy and Scratchy Land) will be created with the the United States and in Europe (wink with the parks with topics).
