Itaqui

Itaqui is a Municipalité in the State of the Rio Grande C Sul, Brésil, located close to the border of the country Argentine, on the left edge of the river Uruguay, in the part of the south-west of the state, between Uruguaiana and São Borja.

History

The currency of Itaqui " The Door of the Rio Grande C Sul" is historically proven, since its territory was used as main door for beginning with the “contact of our ground with Western civilization”. (Barbosa Injured).

Patronage

For the roman catholics, Saint Patrick is the owner of the Ireland, the Engineer S and Itaqui.

Culture

The city has one of oldest the Théâtre of the South America. The Théâtre Prezewodowski was built in 1883.

The city counts great names in the Brésil of the regional Musique and Traditionnelle Gaúcha (or of the Pampa S, like Milonga and Ranchera). Some names of national fame: Elton Saldanha, Bonitinho, João Sampaio and Kide Large.

Economy

The principal activity of the municipality is the Agriculture, in particular Soja, the Blé and the Riz.

Brazil is today the largest producer and consuming rice of Occident. Itaqui is the 2nd rice producer of the State and the company Camil is largest producing of rice of Latin America. Its name is found on rice, the Huile of soya and the Haricot S. the company was created in the city in 1963.

The subsidiary company of Itaqui, the company " Josapar" , of Wound into a ball, produced rice under the name of mark Tio João and is 2nd the larger producing one of rice of Latin America.

The Cattle, with the races Angus , Hereford , Charolaise , Simmental and much of other contemporary varieties, result of the crossing with older races like the Santa Gertrudis , is also an important activity of the municipality.
