Italian schools of painting

The Italian schools of painting define different the artistic movements in painting which developed, spread from their town of origin and are commonly allowed terms in the comments on the artistic production of the Italy and the writings from the Historiens of art.

One will distinguish this classification from the Mouvements in Western painting like the artistic Renaissance Italian, the Maniérisme, the Baroque, the Rococo, the Classicisme, all movements relating to the style and which are, them, spread in all Western Europe without being attached to their place of origin (when there exists).

Places of origin

School florentine

The school florentine develops in Toscane, starting from the town of Florence, starting from 13th at the 16th century, by a new painting breaking with the principles of the Byzantine Peinture.

Sienan school

The Sienan school, which extends from 14th to the 16th century in Tuscany, appronfondit the purest Byzantine tradition, contrary to the school florentine.

Venetian school

The Venetian school was born at the 14th century in the area from Venice.

School of Ferrare

The school of Ferrare is born with the Rebirth. It is supported by the Maison of Este until 1597 and continues under the influences of the other school of the northern area of Italy.

The school véronaise was born with the Middle Ages and hard until the 18th century.
