Italian democratic Socialists

Socialist Italian democrats (SDI) (in Italian: Socialisti Democratici Italiani ) is a Political party Social-démocrate Italy N, member of the European Socialist party and Internationale Socialist.

He belongs to the federation of Olivier and that, broader, of the Union. He is the principal heir to old PSDI but also, mainly of the PSI (of which he disputes the heritage of the name with the Nouveau Italian Socialist party which divided deeply at the time of its congress of 2005 where the majority wanted to be combined the SDI within a new alliance and to the former leaders to remain in the Maison of freedoms). Following this scission, the SDI decided to found the Pink with the fist, an electoral alliance socialist, laic, radical and liberal with the Italian Radical party for the elections of 2006.

Its leader is Enrico Boselli.

The November 14th 1994, the day which followed the dissolution of the PSI at the time of congress which was held with the Auditorium of Palazzo dei Congressi of Rome, nacquirent the Socialisti italiani (IF). Their secretary was as of the beginning Enrico Boselli and chair it Ottaviano Del Turco. Within IF, gathered the majority of the executives and the militants of the old PSI except those which were going then to form Nuovo PSI.

In 1996, IF supported Romano Prodi with the elections, with Rinnovamento italiano of Lamberto Dini, in a coalition of center-left, Olivier.

IF launched a constituent Socialist in 1997 - to contrast the creation of the Left Democrats (DS) of Massimo D' Alema starting from old the Italian Communist party. Combined with Ugo Intini and the PSDI of Gianfranco Schietroma and part of the members of the Labor Party who did not agree to belong to the DS. On February 7th and 8th 1998, was convened the Constituent Socialist whose Bases of the congress (8 with the May 10th 1998) gave rise to the SDI.

At the time of IIe Congress, to Genoa in April 2002, the SDI adhere to the project of Romano Prodi, at the time of the birthday of the Declaration of Ventotene (September 30th, 2001), to unify to it center-left in the House of the Reformists. This objective is confirmed at the time of IIIe Congrès to Fiuggi (of the 2 with the April 4th 2004) which saw being born the single list from Olivier for the European elections.

It has 9 Député S (mixed group, SDI-Unità socialista ) with the Camera dei deputati, of 6 Senator S with the Senato della Repubblica (of which the president of the mixed group) and 2 appointed European, (Ottaviano Del Turco and Pia Locatelli).
