Isthmian League Football the First Division

The Isthmian Football League the First Division (also known under the name of Ryman League the First Division for reasons of sponsoring) is an English championship of Non-league football classified on the seventh level of the system pyramidal English and managed by the Isthmian Football League. Created in 1905 under the name of Isthmian League , it was famous First Division in 1973 and the First Division in 1977. The championship is currently on the same level as the Northern First League the First Division and Southern Football League the First Division.

At the end of the season, the champion and the winner of the eliminatory series (second in the fifth place) are promoted in Conference South. The last 2 clubs are relegated in Isthmian Football League Division One North or Isthmian Football League Division One South according to their geographical location.

Before 2004, the champion was promoted in Football Conference with the champions of Northern First League the First Division and Southern Football League the First Division. Of 1985 with 2004, the championship was positioned on the sixth level of the pyramidal system before retrogressing of a row during the reorganization of the league in 2004.
