Issambres
Issambres is the maritime district of the commune of Roquebrune-sur-Argens in the Var.
Localization
Located in seaside, with 8 km of coasts, Issambres form the district more in the South of the commune, along trunk road RN98.
Origins of the name
The name issambres comes apparently from cimbre , name of the ligure people, which was the first group of population with sédentariser in the zone and which was in contact with the Romains, which by the fact named the current gulf of Saint-Tropez sine sambracitani . Nowadays, this gulf is sometimes called besides “gulf sambracitain”.

Raymond Bedouce (born with Poitiers, died in Issambres): installed in Issambres since the beginning of the XXe century (1927?), Mr. Raymond Bedouce contributed on the whole with the development of this fraction of of the department of Var coast, it was owner of the villa " Issambrettes" and of the near total of what is the commune of Issambres today. He was administrator of the real Civil society of Issambres.In addition he was knight with the military title of the Légion of honor, rewarding his military services and his beautiful attitude during the war 1914-1918. Mobilized as aspiring to the 14th heavy artillery Regiment (which was at the time the first motorized regiment created in the French Army). The Military Cross and several quotations attested behavior of lieutenant Raymond Bedouce. Again in 1939, it set out again with the armies as captain.
Today an alley bears its name, close to the Villa " Issambrettes" , with some steps of the Point of Issambres.
To note that Mr. Raymond Bedouce is the son of Mr. Albert Bedouce, deputy and mayor of Toulouse (1906), Public Minister for Labor in 1936 within the framework of the cabinet Leon Blum which will be unfortunate candidate with the election of the presidency of the Republic, beaten by Mr. Albert Lebrun.
Especially carried formerly in the Tarn-et-Garonne, the name Bedouch is in theory an alternative (attested by Frederic Mistral) of the Occitan vesog (or besog ), which indicates a bill hook, a sickle, possible nickname for the user of this tool. The name Bedouce is a deformation.
