Israel Joshua Singer

Israel Joshua Singer born the November 30th 1893 with Biłgoraj in Poland, dead the February 10th 1944 with New York was a writer Yiddish. He was the older brother and mentor of Isaac Bashevis Singer and Esther Kreitman.

Biography

Born from a father rabbi hassidic and from a mother girl of rabbi, it grows with Warsaw where his/her father was a spiritual leader. It émancipa of the family tradition and was interested in the prolific artistic life in Poland at that time. Starting from 1916 Singer became journalist in the European press Yiddish, successively in Ukraine for the newspaper Di Nye Tsayt (new times), then with Warsaw with the Literarishe Bletter then the review Khaliastra . In 1921 it became corresponding for the American newspaper The Forward . In 1934 it leaves the Poland and settles with New York.
