Isoenzyme
see also: Etymology of Isoenzyme
A isoenzyme (or Isozyme ] is a Enzyme presenting an Amino-acid sequence of different from an enzyme of reference but catalyzing the same chemical reaction.
These enzymes present usually different parameters Cinétique S or different properties of regulation.
The existence of isozymes allows a better adaptation to the Métabolisme to meet the needs for a fabric or a particular developmental stage.
In Biochemistry, the isozymes are isoformes (very close varieties) of enzymes. In general, they are coded by same the Gène S but transferred with time.
Although the definitions of Allozyme and isoenzyme are different, one often uses the two words in an interchangeable way.
Examples
- Cyclo-oxygénase
- steroid 5-alpha réductase 1 and 2 (SRD5A1 and SRD5A2).
