Ismael Will rivet

Ismael Will rivet " El Sonero Mayor " (the improviser of First) (October 5th 1931 - May 13rd 1987) was a Compositeur and Porto Rican Chanteur of Salsa.

Ismael Will rivet, called Maelo , was the first born of the five children of its parents, Luis (carpenter) and Margarita Rivera (housewife).
As a child, Ismael was all the time in the train of Chant er and to strike cans with sticks. It at summer the elementary school Pablo G. Goyco and then in a vocational school to learn the Joinery. It waxed shoes to help its family financially and when it was 16 years old, it worked as a Charpentier.
During its spare time he trailed with his best friend Rafaël Cortijo and sang songs. In 1948, Ismael Will rivet and Rafaël Cortijo joined Conjunto Monterrey: Ismael played of the Conga S and Rafaël of the Bongo s.
Ismael could not work full-time like Musicien, since he worked as carpenter.

In 1952 it left to make its military service in the USA but it was quickly exempted because it did not speak English. From return to Puerto Rico, it went to work with the Panamerican Orchestra thanks to the recommendation of his friend Cortijo.
He sang many tubes (" El Charlatan " , " Vieja in Camisa " , " Sazon de Abuela " …) but the group left after a disagreement with one of the members about a girl.

In 1954, it joined Cortijo known there combo and recorded the following songs who were tubes in all the Latin America:

Whereas Benny Moré visited the island, it if was impressed by the voice of Ismael that it baptized it El Sonero Mayor , the “improviser of first”.

The group left to New York and played in the famous ballroom palladium, where the orchestras of Tito Rodriguez, Tito Puente and Charlie Palmieri also played. In 1959, Ismael, like Cortijo known there combo, took part in the film Calipso with Harry Belafonte.

It made a round with Cortijo known there combo, Rafaël Ithier and Roberto Roena in Europe, Central America and South America.

One suspecté Ismael to be implied of an illegal transaction of Drogue during a voyage to the Panama. It was stopped on its arrival in Puerto Rico, was condemned and imprisoned. This event led to the dissolution of the Cortijo group known there combo.

Little time after, Rafaël Ithier gathered some as of its former musicians and formed El Gran Combo. With its release of prison, Ismael formed its own group: Ismael Will rivet there known Cachimbos, which existed during eight years. Ismael and Cortijo recorded Juntos Otra Vez (another time together).

The death of Rafaël Cortijo in 1982 assigned it to such a point that, at the time of the homage paid to his friend of childhood in Roberto Clemente Coliseumil, it could not sing.

Ismael Rivera died the May 13rd 1987 in the arms of his/her Margarita mother, of a Heart attack.

Celia Cruz recorded a homage to Ismael.

September 27th, 2001, the senate of Puerto Rico adopted law 134 informant the October 5th (its day of birth) “day of Ismael Rivera”.

In Santurce, Puerto Rico, there is a place called Plaza of los Salseros with a statue and a plate devoted to Ismael.
