Islands of Finland

The island S of Finland are officially with the number of 179  584 of which close to: 95000 are maritime, the others being river Lac ustres or , only a small proportion being inhabited in a permanent way.

This number varies every year because with the favor of the isostatic rebound which in general knows the Scandinavia and the Finland in particular since the end of the last Glaciation approximately 10000 years ago, from many islands emerged, amalgamated between them or was attached to the Continent. This phenomenon is observed since the 17th century and continues at the rate of seven to ten square kilometers each year. The north of the Gulf of Bothnia is particularly sensitive to the phenomenon which can reach 90 centimetres of amplitude in one century
