Islands of Admiralty

The islands of Admiralty are a group of eighteen islands in the Archipel Bismarck, in New Guinea-News-Guinea. They are sometimes called the Manus islands, according to the principal island. They form part of the Province of Manus and cover a surface of 2.100 km ².
The principal islands include/understand: Manus Island, Los Negros Island, Tong Island, Pak Island, Rambutyo Island, Lau Island, St Andrews Islands, Baluan Island and Ndrova Island. Many these islands are Atoll S uninhabited.
They were discovered by the Dutchman Willem Schouten, and were baptized islands of Admiralty by the explorer Philip Carteret in 1767.
