Island of the King-Guillaume
The island of the King-Guillaume ( King William Island in English) is an island of the Canadian Arctic Archipel.
It has a surface of 13 111km ² by making the 60e larger island of the world and 15th of Canada. Its population is of 960 inhabitants (2001). In the east it is separated from [[Boothia peninsula]] by [[strait of James Ross]] and it [[Rae strait]]. In the west it [[Victoria strait]] separates it from [[Victoria island]]. In the south it [[Simpson Strait]] separates it from [[Adelaide peninsula]] and in south-west is it [[gulf of the Maud queen]]. The island was occupied a long time or attended by [[Inuit]] S. She was discovered by Europeans at the time of attempts to find it [[passage of the North-West]]. She was named according to the British king reigning [[Guillaume IV of the United Kingdom|Guillaume IV (William IV)]] by the explorer [[John Ross (exploring)|John Ross]] in [[1830]].
