Island of the Fort
The island of the Fort is a island of the the Seine, of triangular, long form approximately 700 meters, located in the Yvelines between Meulan and Mureaux. It is attached administratively to the common of Meulan. This island is connected on the one hand to the Right Bank (Meulan side) by the bridge to the Poles, old bridge dating from XIIe century crossing the arm of Meulan, and on the other hand with the island Belle by a road bridge crossing the arm Saint-Like and giving on the secondary road 14 connecting Meulan and Mureaux by the bridge the Rhine and the Danube.
This island at the height owes its name which was built there by Of Guesclin to defend the town of Meulan against the English.
The island of the Fort accommodates in particular with its point upstream the inter-commune hospital of Meulan them Mureaux (CHIMM).
