The island of Saint-Christophe or Saint Kitts is an island of the Lesser Antilles which is the largest island of the federation of Saint-Christophe-and-Niévès, where it forms a State.

The first Europeans
Saint-Christophe was discovered in 1493 by Christophe Colomb at the time of its second voyage and which baptized it in its honor “San Cristobal”. The French colonists named then it “Saint-Christophe” and English “Saint-Christopher” or more recently under the diminutive of “Saint-Kitts”.Franco-English colonial period (1600 with 1660)

Contemporary period, XX° Century.
- In 1967 the 3 islands St-Kitts, Nevis and Anguilla, form a State associated with the British crown with a total internal autonomy, but in 1971 Anguilla rebelled and obtained the right to make secession.
- In 1983, Saint-Christophe jointly with Nevis obtains independence
et a seat with UNO as a federation of Saint-Christophe-and-Niévès

- Saint-Christophe is located in the north of the Lesser Antilles, in the east of Puerto Rico and is bathed by the Caribbean Sea. The island Nevis, near, is in south-east, while the island Dutchwoman of Saint-Eustace is in the North-West.
