Islamic Center of Geneva
The Islamic Center of Geneva (IGC) is an Islamic center located at Geneva, in Suisse. It includes/understands a space Mosquée, a space conference, classrooms and a room of reading.
History
Founded in 1961 by the Muslim brother Saïd Ramadan which remained about it the director until his death in 1995, this center oldest of Europe is devoted to the diffusion of the Islam and also the first European concretization of the project of network of centers independent of any interference of State.Since the construction of the Mosque of Geneva, it is also known locally like the small mosque . Hani Ramadan took in 1995 the continuation of his/her father to the head of the center. The widow and the children of the founder, with the number of which Tariq Ramadan is, constitute the essence of the board of management. The IGC is cofounder of the association of the Muslim organizations of Geneva in 2006.
In 2007, its financing is ensured by various donations, the contributions of members and services (classes, conferences).
Objectives
