The Islam is the second most important religion of Sweden after the Christianisme. The Tatars are the first Moslems having lived in modern Sweden. The Islamic religion appeared recently in Sweden, because of immigration resulting from Moslem countries (Bosnia-Herzégovine, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Somalia and Lebanon). The majority of the Swedish Moslems are immigrants or descendant of immigrants. The majority of them are Arab originating in Iraq. The second Moslem ethnicity most important are the Moslems originating in the Balkans, like the Albanian and the Bosnian . The country counts also Moslems Berbères come from the Morocco, and Kurdish from Iraq and from Turkey.

There is no estimate official as for the number of alive Moslem in Sweden, however quantify them vary between 480.000 and 500.000 people, thus representing from 4 to 5% of the Swedish population. The number of Moslems of Swedish stock is estimated between 5 at 6000 people. Several Mosquée S exists in Sweden, most famous are those of Malmö and Stockholm. The oldest Swedish mosque is the Nasir mosque, intended for the community ahmadi in the town of Gothenburg. The prayer is led by nearly 145 Imam S, including 45 which was formed by the government which guides the prayer of 150.000 faithful attending the mosques.
