Isla LED Ground

Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun) is an island Bolivia located in Lake Titicaca. It has a 9,6 km length for 4,6 km broad and a surface of 14,3 km ². It is the largest island of the lake. Its original name was Isla Titikaka , and it is it which gave its name to the big lake.

Description

The island has a broken relief with many terraces arranged for agriculture by the former Amerindian people. At the time of the INCA S, the island was a sanctuary. It was there a temple with virgins dedicated to the god Sun or Inti. From there the name comes from the island.

Most of the island is populated Indians of origin Quechua and Aymara, which deals of craft industry and breeding. One speaks there the ancestral languages, but also the Spanish language.

A little everywhere on Isla del Sol are archeological sites. Among them, it is necessary to mention " Roca Sagrada " (Crowned Rock) or Rock of the Origins, which according to the chronicles was the place from which left Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo to found the city of Cuzco. Very also visited, the Chinkana or labyrinth, as well as the Palacio de Pilkokaina (palate of Pilkokaina), both dating from the INCA time.
