Isidore the Plowman
Isidore the Plowman was born with the neighborhoods from 1080, close to Madrid. He died about 1130.
Its life
Very young Placé as farm laborer, it works for several Masters. In front of the arrival of Sarrazins, he flees the area of Madrid, and continues his humble trade elsewhere.
It is told that it is the object of the jealousy of the other workmen, who show it to prefer to request rather than to work the ground like them. However, its last owner, Giovanni de Varges, fact of him its manager.
This last watches for it to check the assertions of the other workmen: it surprises it in prayer while two angels push the plow in its place. Dazzled, Giovanni de Varges converts.

Its worship
Left Spain, its worship was diffused in Brittany, Franche-Comté and in the Tyrol. Isidore was canonized in 1622 by the Pope Gregoire XV.
Patronage
He is the owner of Madrid. But also the guard of the farmers, the daily workmen and the carters.
Representations
He usually is represented armed with a plague or a sheaf of corn ears. He was also represented out of dress of the XVIIe century, with his feet a plow trailed by a small character.
