Isidore Thivrier
Isidore Thivrier (1874 - 1944) was mayor of Commentry of 1936 with 1940 and appointed 1924 with 1940. He was secretary of the socialist federation Allier 1937 with 1939. At the time of the scission of the socialist party, whereas he is general adviser, Isidore Thivrier chooses the SFIO with Marx Dormoy, Rene Boudet, Paul Constans… and becomes the only departmental socialist elected official Allier. In the years which follow, it rebuilds SFIO Allier successfully and connects the electoral victories in the area of Montlucon. It chooses, with his friend Marx Dormoy, to support Leon Blum.
It was one of the 80 members of Parliament having voted against the full powerss with the Pétain Marshal in 1940.
It preserves however its electoral mandates but quickly realizes of uselessness continuing with Vichy an unspecified action. He thus seeks to make resign the Socialists in block, in vain. He thus resigns only to devote himself to other “clandestine” loads more, while however preserving his mandate of mayor of Commentry. After its letter with the prefect explaining why it cannot continue to exert its functions with the head of the town hall of Commentry following the official press release of Vichy regarding the municipal councils maintained as members with the government policy, it resigns on March 4th, 1943. Isidore Thivrier does not devote himself from now on more but to clandestine actions.
He enters to the network Marco-Sports shirt and its property becomes the center of meeting of liaison officer, mails, parachuted missions, station of emission. It is betrayed and stopped by the Gestapo and spends four months and half to the prison of Bourges, then and condemned to twenty years of reclusion for espionage to the profit of the allies by a German military tribunal. It is led to Fresnes, then Compiegne, and the Struthof (Vosgean top) where it suffers from tuberculosis and angina pectoris. It dies there on May 5th, 1944, always convinced that “socialism is the future of the work world”. It obtains the medal of Resistance in 1947 on a purely posthumous basis.
