Isidor Isaac Rabi (born the July 29th 1898 and deceased the January 11th 1988) was a American Physicien of origin Austro-Hungarian. He accepted the Nobel Prize of physics in 1944.
In 1930, Rabi begins research on the nature of the forces binding the Proton S in the Atomic nucleus, which lead to the creation of the method of detection in the molecular beams by Magnetic resonance, which is worth to him to receive the Nobel Prize of physics in 1944.
In 1940, it east put on leave of Columbia to work, as associated director of the laboratory of radiations of the Massachusetts Institute off Technology, on the development of the Radar. It agrees with back-plate to become consulting which would often go to the National laboratory of Los Alamos. The General Leslie Groves insists particularly to make it come to Los Alamos (Rabi was a former student of Robert Oppenheimer, which kept with him good contacts), in order to help this one to withstand the pressure during the days preceding the test by the atomic bomb.
After the war, it continues its research, which contributes to the invention of the Laser and the Atomic clock. It is one of the founders of the National laboratory of Brookhaven and CERN.
It is known to have said that The world would be better without Edward Teller , which is the father of the Bombe to hydrogen.
In 1967, he is prize winner of the Atoms for Peace Award.
