Isabelle of Portugal (1397-1471)
Isabelle of Portugal , born the February 21st 1397 with Évora, dead the December 17th 1471 with Dijon, was, by marriage, duchess of Burgundy and lady of quantities of other places.
She was the only girl of the king Jean I {{er}} of Portugal and his wife Philippa of Lancaster. Among his brothers, one raises in particular Henri the Navigator, Pedro, duke of Coimbra and the king Edouard of Portugal. She passed her youth to the Portuguese court of Lisbon.

Isabelle was a very refined and intelligent woman who liked to be surrounded artists and poets. Jan van Eyck made its portrait. She founded many places of study and was a silent partner of arts. She also had a great political influence on her husband, whom she represented in several diplomatic conferences, like on his/her son.
