Biography
Isabelle II of Spain was the girl of the king d' Espagne Ferdinand VII and of his fourth wife, Marie-Christine of Bourbon-Sicily.
Ferdinand VII not having a male descendant, it decides to leave the throne to his/her Isabelle daughter. This decision displeases with those which consider that the Spanish crown is governed by the Salic law. For them, the heir to the king is his brother infant it Charles. Besides this last refuses to lend oath to his/her niece. With died of his/her father in 1833, Isabelle is proclaimed queen under the regency of her mother Marie-Christine of Bourbon-Sicily, while infant it Charles also declares king under the name of Charles V , supported by its partisans who take the name of carlists. This conflict between the two sovereigns starts the crisis of succession of 1833-1846. It results in armed confrontations which touch especially the north of the Spain, confrontations also known under the name of wars carlists . However, the partisans of infant it Charles do not manage to seize Madrid and to take the throne.
Isabelle II married in 1846 her cousin infant it François (1822 - 1902), duke of Cadiz, wire of infant François of Paule, younger brother of Ferdinand VII and of infant it Charles, they had 11 children. This marriage, from which the future Alphonse XII is resulting, will contribute later to join together the dynastic succession and the succession carlist in the same person. The reign of Isabelle II was rather unpopular. The queen does not seem to have carried a great interest with the Politique. Enough quickly, the reality of the capacity belongs to the army and they are generals who control the country. In 1868, the general Joan Prim lance a revolution and forces the queen Isabelle, the September 30th, to exile itself in France. She abdicates however only in 1870. Its departure, far from arranging the situation of the Spain, causes new international tensions. It indeed involves a candidature of the dynasty Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen in 1870. This claim is being one of the causes of the Franco-German Guerre of 1870.
Between 1850 and 1880, Isabelle II, her mother and her sister, the infante Maria Luisa, remain on different occasions on the coast Norman, in particular with the castle of Aygues with Étretat.
