Isaac Oliver
Isaac Oliver (Rouen, ~ 1565 - 1617) was a Miniaturiste French naturalized English.
Isaac Oliver followed his/her parents Huguenots Pierre and Épiphanie Oliver to London in 1568 to escape religious persecutions in France.
Studying the art of the Miniature with Nicholas Hilliard, it developed a style naturalist largely influenced by Italian art and Flemish.
He married in 1602 Sara Gheeraerts, the girl of the famous portraitist Marcus Gheeraerts elder the (~1516-front. 1604) and of Susannah de Critz after death in 1699 of its first wife, Elizabeth, which was the mother of its oldest son Peter Oliver, also famous painter of the American colonial era. Susannah was the girl of Troilus de Critz, a Orfèvre of Antwerp and close relative of Jean de Critz, the painter of the queen Elisabeth I {{Re}}. She was also the sister or the older cousin of Madeleine de Critz which married Marcus Gheeraerts the young person (1562 - 1635).
After the death of the Queen Elizabeth Anger, he became the painter of Jacques I {{er}}, painting many portraits of the queen Anne of Denmark and prince de Galles.
Part of its work rests with the Château of Windsor. Some of its drafts are with the British Museum.
