Biography

Born the August 20th 1942 in Covington, Tennessee, the United States, Isaac Hayes played of the Piano and the Orgue in various clubs of the area of Memphis. The parents of Isaac died during its tender childhood, his/her large parents raised it. It started to sing at 5 years and learned how all alone to play of the piano of the organ and the Saxophone. He moved in Memphis to be able to play in the circuit of the clubs of the city. He was member various groups, in particular Sir Isaac And The Doo-dads, Teen Tones and Sir Calvin And His Swinging Cats. In 1962, it started to record songs for various local labels. In 1964 it signs at Stax Records. Isaac works with the saxophonist of Mar-Keys, Floyd Newmann and replaced from time to time Booker T. Jones.

After having played some sessions for Otis Redding, Isaac joins David Porter and the duet gave to the day to successes of Sam and Dave such as Hold One I' m Comin , Soul Man and When Something Is Wrong With My Baby . They wrote the song B-A-B there for Carla Thomas, and arrangements of the I Had has Dream and I Gotta Love Somebody' S Baby of Johnnie Taylor. Isaac and David formed the group Soul Children in order to be used as medium for their quality of songwriting. In 1967, Isaac starts again its career with the album Presenting Isaac Hayes . Hot Buttered Soul followed two years afterwards. The Isaac Beam Movement and To Be Continued followed in 1970, then Black Moses in 1971. The film of the Blaxploitation Shaft left also this year, the title headlight became enormous a hit at the same time in charts Pop and R&B this year, until reaching the 1st place. This song was taken again later by Eddy And The Soul Band in 1985, and reached the 13th place in the charts let us britons. Other film BO followed in the kind of Tough Guys in 1973 and Truck Turner in 1974.

Isaac left Stax Records in 1975 after litigations on the royalties, and assembled its own label Hot Buttered Soul, and went bankrupt the following year. It signed at Polydor and Spring. In 1977, the double-album has Man and has Woman , recorded with Dionne Warwick, expressed a restarting of its career. In 1979 a collection of duets with Millie Jackson, named Royal Rappin' S left. It also produces the album Here' S My Love for the artist Linda Clifford the same year. Isaac left a pair albums solo, in 1980 with And Once Again and in 1981 with Lifetime Thing . The same year, Isaac makes an appearance in film of John Carpenter, New York 1997 , by holding the role of the " Duke of New-York".

Musicalement, Isaac made a five years pause before reappearing on the front of the scene with Ike' S Rap , individual which made the Signal 10 U.S.R & B, drawn from the album U Turn . Jackson which takes again the role in the past held by Richard Roundtree. In 2001, it supports Alicia Keys as a musician and arranger on its first album Songs in has minor .
