Is republican

Is republican is a French regional newspaper, whose seat is with Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle). It is mainly diffused in the area Lorraine and in Franche-Comté. It belongs to the group Is Burgundy Rhône Alpes (EBRA), in the past France Is Media or group Is Republican . Its general president-director is Gerard Lignac whose family is shareholder of the newspaper since 1922.

History

the foundation takes place in 1889, in Nancy, by Leon Goulette, on a line anti boulangist.
1913 : the building of style École of Nancy Is Republican is inaugurated which occurred Foch in Nancy. The newspaper counts six editions then, including the Country-High and the Meuse.
1927 : pulling with: 100000 daily specimens. The diffusion extends to the Haute-Saône and the Territoire from Belfort.
June 13rd 1940: last publication of the newspaper whose publication begins again only with the Release.
During the Second world war the presses of the newspaper were requisitioned to make appear a newspaper collaborationnist under the German direction: the Echo of Nancy .
1951 : pulling reached: 200000 specimens. It covers from now on all the Franche-Comté.
1977 : the Center of study of the supports of publicity places the group Is republican with the fourth rank of the French daily press.
1985 : inauguration of the buildings of Houdemont (Meurthe-et-Moselle).
1989 : Is republican festival its centenary.
June 6th 1990: launching of a daily edition in Braille, 1st in Europe, 2nd in the world.
1997 : Is republican becomes the first shareholder of the Breaking news of Alsace , of Strasbourg.
1999 : Is republican takes the control of the Freedom of the East .
September 2006: the newspaper announces the death of Usama Bin Laden, which is contradicted by Jacques Chirac and the American authorities.
