Irving

Irving (to pronounce “er-ving”) is a city of the Texas located in the county of Dallas. The population of the city was of: 191615 inhabitants in 2000, one estimates it at: 194547 inhabitants in 2004 then: 201927 in 2006. Irving belongs to Dallas-Plano-Irving metropolitan division in the middle of Dallas-Extremely Worth-Arlington metropolitan area.

Irving shelters the zone of Las Colinas, or is located celebrates it statue " Mustangs Tired At Colinas " who is the greatest equestrian sculpture in the world. Several large companies have head offices with Irving, like Chuck E. Cheese' S, Exxon Mobil, Gruma, Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Michaels Stores, National Care Network, Omni Hôtels, Southern Star Concrete, Inc., Xero Hour, Zale Corporation and LXI Enterprise Storage. the city is also the national headquarter of the organization Boy Scouts off America. The famous team of American football of the Cowboys of Dallas plays in the Texas Stadium of Irving since 1971, the Cowboys will move in 2009 in a new stage located at Arlington (Texas). The city has as a project to demolish the Texas Stadium to build a new development area.

Part of the International airport of Dallas-Extremely Worth is located on the territory of the city.

History

Irving was founded in 1903 by OJ " Otto" Schulze and Otis Brown. Irving was at the origin in 1889 a sector called Gorbit, and into 1894 the name changed into the Kit. Irving was built-in the April 14th 1914 with Otis Brown as a first mayor.

The school system of the district of Irving is created in 1909. In the years 1910-1920, the growth of the population was slow and sometimes stopping, with only 357 residents in 1925. A significant growth the population started in the years 1930.

With the beginning of the year 1960, the city has a population of approximately: 45000 inhabitants. The Université of Dallas in Irving opens in 1956, and the Texas Stadium is accomplished in 1971 like playing field of the Cowboys of Dallas. The population of the city was of: 155037 inhabitants in 1990. The former member of the municipal council of Irving Herbert Gears was elected mayor in June 2005.

Teaching

The majority of the schools of the city are managed by Irving Independent School District (IISD). The others are managed by Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (CFBISD) and Coppell Independent School District (CISD).
