Irulan
Irulan is a character of fiction of the cycle of Dune , of Frank Herbert.
Oldest daughter of the 81e Emperor Padishah Shaddam IV and of Anirul (10165-10248). It received the conditioning of the sisters Bene Gesserit to which it belongs.
She marries Paul Atréides at the time of the victory of this one against the joint forces of her father and of the Baron Vladimir Harkonnen. The marriage having only political reasons, Paul forsakes it for Chani, its concubine Fremen, and disappears little from time after the death of this one. less than one concubine, who will never know a moment of tenderness with the man on which it is dependant )
Irulan is thus mainly known for its talents of' writer, and to be itself occupied twins Leto and Ghanima, being opposed to Alia. ( It is said that it has literary claims. Let us hope that fills its existence because it will have only few things outwards. ) This declaration takes an ironic direction if one remembers that each chapter starts with a signed quotation of Irulan. In the Messiah of Dune, it conspires against Paul Atréides although it constitutes the bond between the Empereur and entreated.
For a physical description of Irulan: it was large, fair, of a fragile beauty . Charming, it has the green eyes. Nevertheless, in spite of her beauty, the Princess was marked of a tare. Under this envelope of flesh sexually attracting, lived a being twisted, plaintive, which did not worry any more words but of actions. Irulan, however, remained a Bene Gesserit, and the Sisters had in reserve certain techniques which enabled them to make sure that the weakest vectors of the Ordre would be able to fulfill their functions. , the Messiah of Dune, p83. Detail amusing Irulan is the anagram of the name of his/her mother Anirul. Ghanima also mentions that the name of Irulan means the Ruin, which could be ironic knowing that Ghanima means spoil of war in language Fremen.
