Geography

Irpinia is an mountainous area of the south of Italy. It belongs to the area Campanie and it is the name Osque which indicates the province of Avellino. Hispus would mean “wolf indeed” and would be today still, the symbol of Irpinia.

Wines of Irpinia: the red wine Taurasi. The white wines Greco (already enjoyed by Pline Old the, di Tufo and Fiano. Cheeses of Irpinia: Pecorino and Caciocavalo (cheeses of Montegna and Bagnoli).
