Iron virgin

A Vierge of iron is an instrument of Torture, being appeared as a kind of Sarcophage in Fer or Bois. This one is furnished in several places, for example the lid, of long metal points intended to slowly transpierce the victim placed inside the instrument during the closing of this one. This instrument would especially have been used to punish the women Adultère S.

In the popular culture

• the iron virgin also inspired the name of the British group of heavy metal Iron Maiden: Steve Harris, founder and leader of the group had been marked indeed by this instrument discovered in the novel the man with the iron mask.
