Iron-foundry of Pamiers

the iron-foundry of Pamiers is a Entreprise of the company Aubert and Duval. Located at Pamiers (Ariège), this factory (today first private employer of the department) is specialized in the manufacture of forged parts stamped, stamped special steel, Alliage of Titane, Superalliage for the markets of aeronautics and energy in particular. The factory of Pamiers is divided into two entities: on a side Fortech (the oldest part) and other Airforge (modern and strongly automated).

Historical stages

Creation in 1817

It will be noted that the department of Ariège was known for its iron mines. The river Ariège will provide the hydraulic force, while the charcoal whose department was also provided will allow the heating of metal. Thus, the Sainte-Marie factory is created in 1817. At this beginning of century, the company produces files, forgeries and instruments of edge-tool industry.

1867 - 1930

The Company develops and takes the Metallurgical name of Company of Ariège. One develops the die development by installing a foundry and rolling mills.

1930 - 1954

The factory is attached to the Company Commentry Fourchambault Decazeville. The economic crisis and the demographic fall imply a centring on the trades of the forging mill and stamping (trades of the transformation). In 1948, a press of 20.000 tons is installed.

1954 - 1989

The French metallurgy is then in full reorganization. The factory of Pamiers passes in the hand of groups SMI, SFAC, then Creusot-Loire and finally C3F (group Usinor). One centres the industrial effort on more complex manufacture, asking for a knowledge to make single.

From 1989

Named FORTECH, the just factory in 1999 the group Eramet. Lastly, the company Aubert and Duval, subsidiary of Eramet, directs the whole as from 2004.

Airforge

Airforge, located in the prolongation of Fortech is a unit independent producing of the drop forging out of titanium and Superalliage. After studies between 2000 and 2002, the new factory, which wants to be modern, automated and powerful takes seat in 2003, out of 45.779 m ² of ground (including 13.381 m ² covered).

After the many name changes of the company, Appaméens have as a habit to call it simply " Usine". It is named sometimes still " Fortech" , name which it kept at the sides of Aubert and Duval.

Production

The company is specialized in the parts undergoing of strong mechanical constraints

Aeronautics

  • Structures: Parts of aerofoil, Fuselage, chechmates engines (the part connecting the engine and the wing of a plane)
  • Driving: Discs, trees, etc… For example on the engine CFM56, 7 parts are manufactured in Pamiers.

Energy

Discs, trees and distanceurs of gas turbines, discs compressing, hoop non-magnetic
