Irish Rock\'n\'roll

The Rock-and-roll belonged to the Musique of Ireland since the Années 1960, when the British Invasion brought the British blues, the Rock psychedelic and other styles on the island. The Irish music scene in the years 1960 and one good part of the Années 1970 was dominated by the only Irish phenomenon: that of the “Showbands” which were groups of professional interpreters who played in the clubs of dance in all the country, putting in scene a professional “show” and playing all the American hits and English of the time. In the middle of the Seventies, with the appearance of the Roots revival of the traditional music, of the groups of folk rock'n'roll fusion like Planxty and Moving Heats as well as of the Composer-songwriter S like Christy Moore and Paul Brady arrived in first place.

The group Mama' S Boys became also very known on the scene of the heavy metal.

At the end of the Eighties and at the beginning of the Années 1990 My Bloody Valentine proposed a new style of rock'n'roll, Shoegazing and accepted a great acclamation of criticism.

A new harvest of Irish rockers obtained a great success in the years 1990: The Cranberries of Limerick, The Frames of Dublin and Therapy? and Ash of Northern Ireland.

In the current decade the music scene remains strong in Ireland. The singer/type-setter Damien Rice obtained a great success and an international acclamation of criticism.

More recent groups like Snow Patrol, The Thrills and Paddy Casey started to invade the European market.
