The Irish République (in English Irish Republic , in Gaelic Poblacht Na hÉireann or Saorstát Éireann ) was unilaterally declared following the insurrection of Easter in 1916 and was established in 1919 by the Dáil Éireann. Its existence coincides with the Guerre of Irish independence of 1919 - 1922 between the Irish Republican Army and the forces of the the United Kingdom.

It formally ceased existing in 1922 with the ratification of the Anglo-Irish Traité which put an end to the war, when 26 of the 32 counties of the country became the free State of Ireland, while the six remainders formed the Northern Ireland within the the United Kingdom.
