Irbit

Irbit (in Russian: Ирби́т) is a city of the Oblast de Sverdlovsk, in Russia. It is on Right Bank of the Nitsa, to 174 km in the North-West of Iekaterinbourg. Its population was of: 41700 inhabitants in 2007.

A public park is located at the north of the city. The city is sprinkled by the rivers Nitsa and Irbit. It also has mineral resources, like the diatomacée ground and of the deposits of Sable for the glassmaking.

History

Founded in 1631 under the name of Irbeïevskаya Sloboda (Russian: Ирбе́евскаяслобода), its name was changed into 1662 in Irbit. It receipt the official statute of city by the Large Catherine in 1775 for her honesty towards Impératice during insurrection of Pougachev in 1773-1774.

At the 19th century, the fair of Irbit was an important event which gathered commercial Fourrure S of Siberia and the merchants of The Chinese.

The city is located at approximately 203 km of Iekaterinbourg in the train or at 250 km in the car. It is crossed by the railway line Iekaterinbourg- Tavda - Oustye-Akha and of the important roads, making it possible to join Kamychlov, Artyomovsk, Tourinsk, and Tioumen.

Economy

Until the beginning of the year 1990, the economy of the city rested on the Usine of motor bicycles of Irbit or IMZ ( ИрбитскийМотоциклетныйзавод , Irbitski Mototsikletny Zavod), which manufactured the famous motor bikes of mark the Ural , in particular of the Side-car S. This factory was created in 1941, starting from factories of the western part of Russia evacuated in front of the advance of the German army. The first model manufactured was a copy with identical of BMW R71 and was intended for the Red Army . Thereafter, various civil models were developed. In 1992, IMZ manufactured: 130986 motor bikes with a personnel of: 10000 people. The production then crumbled. Today, a little more: 1000 paid produces approximately 200 motor bikes per month.

Culture

The Musée of State of beautiful arts of Irbit has some important works, among which engravings with the strong water of famous European artists. In its collection, appear of engravings of artists Italian, Dutch, Flemish, German, French, English, Spanish, Swiss, Austrian, Polish, Belgian, Bulgarian and North-American. The collection of the Museum thus has works of Albrecht Dürer and Francisco Goya. Russian art is represented by A.F. Zoubova, I.A. Sokolova, E.P. Tchemesova, Mikhaïl Doboujinsky, Alexandre Deïneka and much of others. Local artists of Iekaterinbourg and Nijni-Taguil are also introduced.

Irbit has two hundred years an old theater.

The Musée of State of the motor bicycles of Irbit tries to attract in Irbit and factory IMZ of impassioned motor bikes from abroad. Each summer, takes place with Irbit a large gathering of Motard S, Irbitski baïk sliot (Ирбитскийбайкслёт) , a " Bike show" to which take share of the thousands of impassioned come from the oblast of Sverdlovsk, the remainder of Russia and even from abroad.
