Iranology
The Iranologie is an interdisciplinary field of studies of the Iranian Monde. It is composed of the studies of the history, the literature, the art and the culture of the Perse and the Iran of today. The terms Iranian studies , studies Persians also refer being studied of the culture, the history, the languages and other aspects of the Iranian Peuples such as the Persan , the Kurdish , the Pachtounes, the Ossètes, the Scythes,…
History of Iranologie in Persia
The poet and Persan thinker, Ferdowsi, are known to be the founder of Iranologie. In its chief of work, the Shahnameh, it tried to treat in an extensive way of the Persian culture, of its literature, the art, the history and the Anthropologie.At the 9th century, the Persan historian Muhammad ibn Jarir Al-Tabari made an important contribution to Iranologie with his entitled book Histoire of the prophets and the kings who cover the historical events since 915 av JC. Tarikh-e Mas' oudi of the historian and Persan author Abolfazl Beyhaghi (995-1077), is one of the surest sources on the Ghaznévides, and its so particular prose made of it a considerable book of the Littérature Persian.
The Persan historian ATA Malek Joveyni was the first of several brilliant representatives of the Persian historiography which flowers during the time of the Mongolian domination in Iran (1220-1336). The major book of Joveyni, Tarikh-i jehan-gusha , is one of the most important work of Persian historiography.
Sharaf AD-DIN 'Ali Yazdi was one of large of the Persia of the 15th century. The work for which it is most known is the Zafernameh (the Book of the Victoire). It is the history of Teymour (Tamerlane; 1370-1405) which was probably based on the history of the same name of Nizam AD-DIN Shami, work written on order of Teymour
Iranology in modern Persia (Iran)
The Université of Teheran set up several pulpits of Iranologie, such as linguistics and culture of ancient Iran, literature Persian, history and archeology. Characters of reputation occupied these pulpits during the 20th century such as Abdolhossein Zarrinkoub, Zabihollah Safa, Ahmad Tafazzoli, Jaleh Amouzgar and Badiozzaman Forouzanfar.
At the beginning of the 20th century, an enormous project was started with the linguist and Persan historian Allameh Dehkhoda. Its encyclopedic collection is largest and most complete of the Persan dictionaries ever published, in 15 volumes (26 000 pages).
Through the history, there were several publications of Iranologie, among which Sokhan , Yaqma , Rahnamay E Ketab and Kelk was considered most significant. Kelk was founded by Ali Dehbashi and quickly became one of the most famous newspapers of Iranologie of the world. Bokhara Magazine ( Kelk under a new name) is most famous today of the journaus of Iranologie. Ali Dehbashi and Iraj Afshar are the principal editors of the newspaper which devoted its efforts to promote the iranology during the last decades.
Iranology in Europe
The Université of Göttingen is a pioneer of Iranologie in Occident. In 2003, the hundredth birthday of the department was held at the university. Among the European countries, the Germany is that which contributed the most to the iranology and the Persian studies. France is represented in this field of studies by the French Institute of Research in Iran (IFRI), which, thanks to its offices with Teheran, participle periodically has excavations on the Iranian sites within mixed teams.The Company of Iranologues Européens periodically organizes many conferences in various universities and scientific centers in the world.
Iranology in the United States
The serious studies in the field of Iranologie and the study of the Persian language started in the United States in 1958. Departments of Iranologie were founded in many prestigious American universities such as Stanford University and Columbia University.The Encyclopædia Iranica, which is the most famous source on the Iranian culture, was initiated in Columbia. Eminent iranologists such as Richard Nelson Frye and Ehsan Yarshater were implied in this project. In fact, this source is the work of reference for all that touches with the grounds, with the life, the culture and the history of all the Iranian Peuples and their interactions with the other companies.
