Iranian Army
Branches military: The regular forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran include the Army ( Artesh ), the marine ( Niru-Daryai ), the air force ( Niru-Havayi ) and the defense forces air. The parallel force of the Gardiens of the Islamic revolution include terrestrial, air and naval compositions as well as the forces Qods (Special forces) and the militia of the Basij . Other paramilitary groups can also be mobilized.
The military capacities of Iran for the majority are held secret, but its relatively advanced possibilities and technologies are shown by the long construction of missiles carried like the Shahab-3 and by the modification of armaments bought under license.
The Iranian armed forces have a total staff complement of 755.000 soldiers (as comparison, the French Army counts in 2005,350 000 men).
In detail, the Iranian army is made up of three branches:

Effective of the Army: 350.000 men and 220.000 conscripts
- Effective of the air forces: 52.000 men
- Effective of the Navy: 23.000 men (including 3.000 for the Marines)
Iran can also count on 1.600 armored vehicles, 300 fighters and 3 submarines.
The regular army is doubled by the force of the Pasdarans which has 230.000 men in a score of large formations, of which units parachutists, of special operations or Marines.
