Iphigénie in Aulis (in Greek old Ἰφιγένεια ἡ ἐν Αὐλίδι / Iphigéneia He in Aulídi ) is a Greek Tragédie of Euripide produced in 406 av. J. - C.

Summary

Nérée, father of all the Néréides, deploys its violences in water of Aonie and refuses to transport the warriors, on the way for Troy. He asks for the sacrifice of Iphigénie, girl of Agamemnon, to alleviate his anger. When the public interest overcame the tenderness of Agamemnon for his/her daughter, when the king overcame the father and that Iphigénie, lends to give her pure blood, took the place in front of the furnace bridge among the priests in tears, the goddess is overcome in her turn; she extends a cloud in front of all the eyes and during the ceremony, in the middle of the tumult of the sacrifice, she replaces, says one, by a hind the young girl of Mycènes. Then, Artémis goddess of hunting having been disarmed by this victim made better for it and the anger of the floods, the thousand vessels receive the wheels in motion and, afterwards many tests, they approach on the beach of Phrygie.
