Ipernity

ipernity is a free Web site combining multi-media publication, division with the chart and social network.

The service is intended to the creative authors/and to the family groups or of friends, and makes it possible to publish in the same very standard space of digital contents of which blog, photographs, vidéos and audios creations.

Bases of the project

ipernity is a project founded in 2005 by:

Christophe Ruelle, cofounder of Here are in 1998 and eStat (service of measurement of audience leant with Médiamétrie)
Christian Conti, cofounder of Respublica, platform of virtual communities integrated in 2000 into Libertysurf

The objective of the project was to allow:

with all-a-each one,
via technologies and networks of information,
to constitute and develop, durably and in a single place
its inheritance of numerical memory .

The project was developed with Sophia Antipolis and required 2 years of programming and development. A version alpha of the site was born in May 2006. The current version (beta) of ipernity is opened with the public since April 2007.

Targets and uses

The service is intended:

with the creative authors/who wish to promote their numeric works near the greatest number,
with the groups of friends or families, for a private use of their documents published.

Functionalities

ipernity makes it possible to publish:

of the articles of Blog,
of the images or photographs,
of the Video S,
of the audio creations,
and more generally any type of Numerical contents .

These publications can also be organized in albums multi-media.

Tags and Géotags

The authors and their visitors have the possibility of associating labels (Tags) with any document published:

key words
Tags members: people concerned with the document published
Géotags: geographical location

This semantic contribution facilitates research and authorizes new forms of exploitation.

Among them, cartographic exploration resulting from a Mashup with Google Maps.

Protection of the rights

ipernity proposes to the creative authors/the possibility of concluding from the contracts Creative Commons.

Social network

ipernity allows interactions between the documents, their authors and those which discover them and use them. System of feedback, networks of contacts, Instant messaging, email belong to the communicating tools which contribute to emergence Social networks.

Interworking

All the contents of ipernity, under the authorization of their authors, are exportable in the form of flow for a use by service-thirds such readers RSS, banner pages personnalisables of Google, Yahoo or Netvibes, services of social-bookmarking such as Del.icio.us

ipernity also proposes a Application program interface (API) making it possible company-thirds to develop applications and Mashup which can communicate with its platform.
