The ion nitronium NO2+ creates for itself by dehydration of the nitric Acid and the sulphuric Acid .
Here reaction: H2SO4 + HNO3 → HSO4- + NO2+ + H2O
The ion nitronium is in particular used in the nitration of the aromatic compounds.
